Environmental Disaster Looming?

An oil tanker which was attacked by Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the Red Sea last week is still on fire and may be leaking oil, according to the US Pentagon.

The ship is carrying more than 150,000 tonnes – or one million barrels – of crude oil, and a major spill has the potential to be among the largest from a ship in recorded history. For context, a spill of this magnitude would be 4 times greater than that of the Exxon Valdez disaster in 1989
